A Christmas Poem ... Jesus, our Precious Gift Matthew 1:18-23

Christmas is a special time
For happiness and joy.
It is meant to celebrate
The birth of a little boy
Who was born in the straw
To the Virgin Mary
While many people in the world
Looked at Him in awe.
They named the baby, Jesus
As in Mary's lap He lay~
And shepherds from all over
Came to see Him on that day.
He grew to be the greatest man
That there could ever be~
For Jesus gave up His life
Just for you and me.
We should all be thankful~
Not just when Christmas time is here~
But also every other day
We see throughout the year.

It was 1982 when I wrote this poem.  I remember sitting in my bedroom as a teenager with my pad of paper and a pen, as these words just seemed to flow onto the paper.  It was from God's own heart into mine and through me that this poem was written.
As I examine it today, I still feel the essence of our heavenly Father as His Truth remains eternally unchanged.
Christmas is indeed a very special time!
As people get carried away in the hustle and bustle of buying gifts for loved ones and friends, it is all too often that the true meaning of Christmas gets pushed aside with little thought of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Christmas is the celebration of Jesus' birth!
It is an awesome and miraculous birth that Mary, His virgin mother, was chosen by God to carry the Christ-child inside of her womb until the time of His glorious birth!

Think about this...
Jesus is the first gift that we should be concerned about during Christmas. Jesus birth was a gift unto the world for yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Jesus grew from that tiny baby, laying in a manger, into the greatest man who ever lived.
Yes, Jesus, the Son of  God, lived as an infant, a child and a man. Just as you I have grown into adulthood, Jesus did also, being raised by his parents, Mary and Joseph, but also always fully aware of His Father in Heaven.
Jesus' life was filled with normal days, but overshadowed with love and gentleness, teaching and miracles, all of which showed the people that He truly was Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Still, in His time, people scoffed at Who Jesus was. They mocked, ridiculed and ultimately had Jesus killed a cruel and violent death because of their own misunderstanding of the truth of God's Word.
Yes, it is true... Jesus birth and death - all a part of God's plan!
It all happened for a purpose. It happened so that you and I would have the opportunity to know God through Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world!
It is in our acknowledgement of Jesus and the Truth of His birth, life, death and resurrection... that we come into relationship with our Creator, our God who gives us everlasting life.
What an amazing gift!
Jesus is the most amazing and glorious gift that a person will ever receive!
His birth leads to life everlasting, love eternal and joy fulfilled within our heart.
Christmas... A time to Celebrate!
Happy Birthday, Jesus!
Our most precious gift...
My prayer for today is that while Christmas shopping for gifts to give our loved ones and friends, let us take a moment to remember Jesus Christ, our glorious and amazing gift from God given to mankind over 2000 years ago.
Let us not forget that Jesus is the gift that keeps on giving. He is eternal. His love is eternal.
He is ever present in our daily lives and His purpose, His Truth, remains eternally unchanged.
Love and Blessings to All and Merry Christmas in Jesus Precious Name... Amen.

Matthew 1:18-23 (KJV)
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph, her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her

away privily.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for He shall save his people from their sins."
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."
