Sunsets glorious    written by Patricia Ann   June 11, 2024

The heavens declare the glory of God;  the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Psalm 19:1

The sunsets where I live draw me to the Scriptures.  God has much to say about His creation in His word, but to experience the essence of Creation in the sunset is glorious.  The sunsets speak to my heart, straight from the heart of God.

I have lived in many places in my life, many of which had no way to see the fullness of a sunset.  The skyline was much too busy with buildings...neighboring homes obscuring the view, or trees or even industrial buildings protruding high in the sky.  The sunsets would come and go and I never really ever took the time to notice the end of the day, that the evening was closing in... from light of the day into the darkness of night.

In the busyness of the skyline, had I become like so many other people who just take for granted that Creation exists, but isn't a big deal?

When God brought me to this property, this place that I call home, I hesitated to purchase it.  The house was abandoned.  The grass was not mowed and several feet tall.  There was trash and car parts strewn about the yard.  Still, God spoke to my heart and made a way for this piece of property to be purchased for His purpose and His glory.  I live here and I call it my home, but it truly belongs to my Lord.

In so many ways, He has made a way where there seemed to be no way.  And I am confident that His purpose for this property has already been written and completed in Heaven, and as we know scripture tells us that when we pray to pray, "on earth as it is in Heaven."  Therefore, I can rest assured in His promise, even on the days that I feel overwhelmed by what I see that isn't done yet.  God showed me a vision of how this property will be used for His glory and I am blessed to be a part of it.

I have discovered that one of the ways that God reminds me of why I am here, why this is my home, is written in the sunrise and the sunset of every day!

His Creation praises His name!  The Heavens declare His glory!

The colors of the rainbow, the vibrant designs painted in the clouds amaze me, as I am drawn to go outside every evening with an eager expectancy to see what God has to share with me.  His sunsets remind me that no matter what has happened during my day, bad or good, God is always there, watching and waiting for me to come into His presence.

He desires for me to spend time with Himself!

The sunsets glorious remind me that I can come to Him with any questions, in tears, or joy or in praise and worship and He will envelop me into HIs loving essence.  He will envelop me, as He reaches down from Heaven and scoops me up in HIs hands.

There I feel Him.   I rest in His love.

His elegant handiwork is all around me in the vastness of the sunset glorious... and I know that this place, truly is my home.  I live on a piece of property surrounded with His glorious light, from the sunrise in the morning to the sunset in the evening and the moonlit starry night.

God is ever present in His creation, waiting to share it intimately with each of us in our own unique way!

My prayer for today is that we all take the time to experience our loving Father in Heaven... in the sunrise and the sunset and every moment in between.  He is always waiting to reach down and scoop us up into His loving embrace.

Love and blessing to all in Christ Jesus. Amen

Psalm 19

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

The heavens declare the glory of God;
    the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
    night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
    no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice[b] goes out into all the earth,
    their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
    It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
    like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens
    and makes its circuit to the other;
    nothing is deprived of its warmth.

The law of the Lord is perfect,
    refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
    making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right,
    giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
    giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure,
    enduring forever.
The decrees of the Lord are firm,
    and all of them are righteous.

10 They are more precious than gold,
    than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
    than honey from the honeycomb.
11 By them your servant is warned;
    in keeping them there is great reward.
12 But who can discern their own errors?
    Forgive my hidden faults.
13 Keep your servant also from willful sins;
    may they not rule over me.
Then I will be blameless,
    innocent of great transgression.

14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart
    be pleasing in your sight,
    Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
