Seasons... To everything there is a season... Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate;
a time of war, and a time of peace. Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8
I find comfort in these words of our Lord.
We live our lives going through season after season.
From birth to death our lives are forever changing. We grow, we learn, we change. And we have a choice as to how we let these changes affect us.
We all seek to have a life of happiness and joy, health and prosperity.
We look around us and see that some people seem to "have it all".
Great jobs, great marriages, great children, big houses, fancy cars, and so much more. They seem to be living in a season of goodness that never changes. They really truly "have it all." They have it made!
Then there are those of us who seem to struggle through life.
We go through one season after another. Sometimes we have joy and laughter and life seems so grand that we start to think "Yes, it s finally here. I have it made. Life is so good!"
Then the unthinkable happens. We get hit with a new season. Our joy turns to weeping, our dancing into mourning. We wonder, "Why? Why is this happening to me?"
In this Scripture, Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, our Father in Heaven tells us that we will go through these seasons. He doesn't describe in depth what we might go through, but many of us know the deep sorrow that some seasons carry, and how hard it is to wait patiently upon our Lord to bring us through the storms to happiness and restore our joy and peace, our health, our families, our finances, etc.
As we pass through the storms it is important to keep our eyes focused on our Father in Heaven who has told us of these things.
I have noticed many times that in these trials and triumphs that God places us in the hands of others, who in obedience to Him, help us through the storms, across the deserts, through the valleys and up to the mountain tops.
Most of the time, those He has placed into our lives to help us are those who have already weathered the same storms that we are encountering and who know just what we need, even when we don't even know ourselves what would help us. They can see the end of the storm and know that with a little help from a friend, we will survive those storms.
And sometimes He just places us in the hands of someone who is filled completely with His love and compassion...an earthly comforter who restores us to perfection.
It has always happened this way when I have been in deserts and valleys. I praise God for those who are painstakingly obedient to Him, those who are willing to follow His nudging and lend an ear, a helping hand and a word, His Word and His love to those in need.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV)
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
My prayer for today is that we never lose sight of our Father in Heaven . Seasons come and seasons go. Be thankful for the blessings He bestows and those comforters He has placed in your life who have been sent to help you. Live a life of love, compassion and kindness, even in every season. One day, He will use you to comfort someone during their season as well. Be blessed and love unconditionally and kindly.
Love to all in Jesus precious name. Amen.
