When time flies by and years add up ...
by Patricia Ann
When time flies by and years add up...
Do we look back at our lives and see...
A past that is filled with gratitude and love?
Or strife filled anger and envy?
Do we look back on memories of childhood dreams that came true?
Or on heartbreak of dreams that never manifested?
Do we look back and see the beauty in the clouds and the dandelion?
Or do we see the storms and patches of weeds?
Do we look back and see prosperity or lack?
Hearts given in love or broken by greed?
Do we look back and find that time flies by and years add up...
And it so often passed us by?
Filled with distraction of busyness, chaos and lusts of life...
Did we give in to idols like money or fame?
Were we too busy for our children or our family?
Were we even too busy to take notice of ourselves...
Aging gracefully or way to fast,
Depending on the choices we made?
Did we honor our body as the temple it is...
To keep it healthy and strong?
Or did we abuse with alcohol and medicines to deal with strife?
Did we cut short our years by leaps and bounds...
And miss out on the wondrous things,
that a life well lived undoubtedly brings?
Did we forget to laugh instead of grumble?
Did we choose to grimace instead of smile...
At a child or neighbor or stranger afar?
Did we forget to honor each day as a gift...
Making it the best it could be?
Or did we subtract from our joy in this journey through life...
By residing in our sorrows of life passing by?
There is time right now, as time flies by and years add up...
To make each day the best day yet.
To fill each day with love, with dreams and laughter and joy.
So that one day when we are older still,
And we look and see...
That time has flown by and the years added up,
To a life well lived...
Our story to tell.
My prayer for today is that we live in love and gratitude, of each day we are given embracing each day as life is worth living. Love and blessings to all. Amen
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper and not to harm you, to give you a hope and a future.
