Steven at the Cross

by Patricia Ann

When Steven's eyes met Jesus at the cross, they shone with such a beautiful, blue essence, the vibrancy of pure love. It was like I saw the river of life suddenly flow through his entire body. In a moment, a split second, Steven was freed from drug addiction. He went from being in a drug induced state to totally normal and the joy of the Lord was all over him.  Praise be to God the Father whose love is everlasting.

I will always believe that God sets our appointments in life. We never know when or where or how it will happen. But just know that it will happen. It does happen every day.

My appointment with Steven touched my heart and even changed my heart in ways I didn't know it could be changed.

Steven openly shared his life story with me. As I listened to his story, I saw Steven's heart.  It had been so broken, rejected and abused. From a very young age, Steven had endured traumatic events that brought tears to my eyes and filled my heart with so much compassion and love.

I just knew how much Jesus loved Steven and that He had never left him. And somehow during all those years of extreme abuse, Steven had developed a God heart of deep and pure love that was indwelled inside of this body of flesh.

Oh, how our Father drew Steven's heart unto Himself and protected him through much diversity and trials, even unto the day I stood and watched Steven's eyes meet Jesus at the Cross.

Scripture confirms this in Psalm 68:4-6:,

Sing to God! Sing praises to His name. Exalt Him who rides on the clouds—His name is the LORD—and rejoice before Him.

A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in His holy habitation. God settles the lonely in families; He leads the prisoners out to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a sun-scorched land.…

God had never left Steven.

Steven had run from God into an addiction with drugs to ease his childhood pain and trauma.

But for such a time as this, God was calling Steven's heart back unto Himself to free him from the pain of the past and a present day addiction.

When Steven's eyes met Jesus at the cross, they shone with such a beautiful blue essence, the vibrancy of pure love. It was like I saw the river of life suddenly flow through his entire body. In a moment, a split second, Steven was freed... God's heart and Steven's heart became One heart, One in Spirit, One in love.

And I knew Steven was free. Steven was safe. He always had been, but this day...Steven knew it, too.

 - And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

My prayer for today...I thank you Lord for your Word, for your Love, for the Cross that sets the captives free. I pray for all who read this to be like Steven and experience transformation from trauma and past rejection. Jesus love is forever cleansing, forever ready to forgive and heal us of our wounds. May we all... Sing to God! Sing praises to His name. Exalt Him who rides on the clouds—His name is the LORD—and rejoice before Him.

Love and Blessings to all in Jesus' Precious Name, Amen
