Spiritual assassination...this too shall pass, 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

2 Corinthians 4: 17-18, “For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long.  Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever.  So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen.  For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”
It was an exciting time for me when God planted me here in this small community of just 450 people. This small, abandoned country church sat quietly for some time, waiting for God to breathe life once again inside its walls.  
When I walked in, I remember feeling so at home here.  It was like this place, this community was finally where I was destined to be.  And this House of God... the beauty that it possesses stills my heart. It speaks to my being, as I sit the presence of our God... when I sing praises to His name and when I write His words, as His message to the people. 
 
I am continually amazed at the presence of our Father in Heaven, as the Holy Spirit comforts and counsels, rejoicing in the revelation of Who God is, our Father and Creator of all things.
The joy of our Lord never leaves my heart, but during the times when I see the world seek to sneak in and create confusion, my heart saddens and I feel a deep sorrow for those people who reject and turn from our Father in Heaven. 
And when they turn violently, spewing lies and using manipulation seeking to destroy the beauty of our Father and His creation, I find myself mourning from deep inside my heart... my place so near the heart of God.
And I know that He feels my pain and my heartache, as He sees the torment that is so violently perpetrated

towards His Kingdom.
As we see this happening every day in our communities and across our nation and the world...
We often ask ourselves and God, "Why?" "Why do these things happen?" 
"How can man's heart be so cruel?"
Yet we know the answer is written many times in His Word. 
We find in reading the Word of God that it would be this way.
Jesus was crucified by such people. 
The Pharisees' looked blindly at Jesus, as He pleaded with them on the temple steps, speaking, "woe to you..."

But His words mattered not, as they stood by... turning away and ultimately contributing to His cruel death, a punishment for... What?
For being the Son of God, for seeking to share His Father's word, for loving mankind, for His miracles and teachings?

"Who is this man?" they asked.  "Is this the man they call Jesus?"
And as He was wrongly accused, He was betrayed and put to death, but it was a death that no man could

understand... apart from a relationship with God. 
We know that "Jesus wept."  
But do we know why He wept?
Many thoughts include that Jesus wept because He knew He was going to die, but we might also know that Jesus wept for the condition of the hearts of man... that they would be so cruel as to persecute and kill. 
And is it just a lack of knowledge of who God is... or is it a blatant form of evil that spews in the face of God's people, to bring them down into submission to an evil and cruel world? 
As Satan, the enemy of our God, has always had an evil agenda against the Kingdom of God, we see spiritual

assassination taking place every day against the Kingdom of God, evil words and actions spewing out of mankind in the most vile and accusing ways... speaking in manipulation and lies against Christians in an attempt to "shut them up" and put them underfoot.  
It would seem that they are somehow unaware of the power of God's Word, the Sword of the Spirit.  As our Father in Heaven is in control, we as Christian's  are able to live under His protection.   .
 
Isaiah 54:17, No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue [that] shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This [is] the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness [is] of me, saith the LORD.
Therefore, we stand... declaring victory over the forces of darkness! We speak His Word, discern evil, expose darkness and set the captives free.
As we walk in obedience to His Word, and we speak of Who He is in truth and deed, we can stand in the face of the evil and under the protection of our Father in Heaven, as He assures us...this too shall pass.

1 Corinthians 15:58, So then, dear brothers and sisters, be firm. Do not be moved! Always be outstanding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
