When God Moves a Mountain...We Stand Victorious

I wrote this several years ago, but the message is necessary for today.  We stand victorious!

Mark 11:23-24 (ESV)
Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Have you ever stood at the base of a mountain and looked up toward the top?
Mountains aren't just big. 
Mountains are massive!
They project upward from the earth reaching toward the sky at great heights. They are an overwhelming size!
The definition of a mountain is: A natural elevation of the earth's surface having considerable mass, generally steep sides, and a height greater than that of a hill.

Unlike hills, mountains are hard to climb. Experienced mountain climbers have special gear that they use when attempting to climb a mountain. 
They take the time necessary to prepare for the climb, knowing that it will be a difficult feat
to achieve. 
Climbing a mountain unprepared is very dangerous and often unsuccessful.
God's word tells us about mountains.
Our Father in Heaven has given us authority to move mountains. In His word, we receive the instructions on how to stand victorious at the completion of our journey.

Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. (Mark 11:23)
The mountains that God refers to are not the physical mountains He created on the earth projecting upwards towards Heaven.
The mountains that God refers to are the trials that we face in life. 
 
Some trials are small and easy to overcome, just like climbing up and over a small hill.  
We can do that with little effort most of the time and we recover quickly from the energy consumed and the stress it puts on our body. 
Sometimes, however, we find we have a problem that is big. Bigger than big; our problem is massive!
We step back and look at what is going on in our situation and we see a huge mountain.
It is overwhelming! 
We know that it isn't going to be easy this time. This isn't just a little hill!
It's big. It's huge!
We look at our problem and we are paralyzed
in fear. We can't move. We don't know what direction to go.
We are not prepared for this!
What do we do?
Who do we call on for help?
The answer is in our Father in heaven.
Jesus tells us:  Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. (John 14:12)

When we humble ourselves before our Lord, we admit defeat.
We know that we cannot even begin to conquer this mountain under our own power.
And in that humbled state, we call on Jesus to
help us. 
It is then that we see that Jesus will take our mountain of a problem to our Father in heaven.
And Jesus does this because of love.
Jesus loves every person born into the world.
He always has.
He was born for the purpose of redeeming us from the trials and temptations of the world.
Jesus died for each of us.
He died for the sinfulness of mankind.
He died for sickness and disease.
He died for abuse and broken hearts.
The heart of Jesus is so big that He allowed himself to be persecuted, hated, beaten and nailed to a cross for you and for me. 
He has already climbed to the mountain top for us, declaring victory.
Jesus has done it all.
He paid the price for every burden that we will ever have to face.
No mountain is too tall to conquer with the love of Jesus!
In fact, we are told that by our faith in Him, the mountain will be moved. No longer do we have to worry and stand in fear of the massive problems we face because with Jesus the mountain no longer stands in our path. 
We don't have to climb the mountain!
It is gone; moved aside, so that we can continue our journey peacefully.
Because Jesus loves us, God moves the mountain and we stand victorious over the trials of life. 
My prayer for today is that as we stand victorious over the trials that life brings, we allow ourselves to walk in humbleness before our Lord.
Let us remember all that He has done and continues to do for each of us every day.
And I pray that in our humbleness, we are clothed with the same compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience that our Lord has shown to us.
Thank you Jesus for moving our mountains.
We stand victorious with you!
