Matthew 6:26 - Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Spring time is coming forth. I can feel it in the warmth of the sunshine. The blue skies with cottony, white puffs of clouds moving slowly in this gentle, yet cool breeze. It feels good on my face, as I stand in awe of these beautiful birds singing praises to God, as they feed on the seeds and tiny bugs on the ground.
First, I spotted bright red cardinal, then another and another... four or five of them in total in one location under a tree. Then, a blue jay landed close by, with his beautiful shades of blue and a feathery tuft upon his head. A red headed woodpecker soon landed on a tree and made his way up the bark, seeking his morning meal.
And finally, there she was! A red breasted robin was hopping around between the trees with the cardinals and blue jays, pecking at the ground, as all robins do. How exciting! The robin is a sure sign of Spring coming forth! A few more robins came along, and I also noticed some small fiches, yet to receive their beautiful vibrant colors that the springtime will bring. They will be red and yellow and of course, the blue indigo buntings and orioles will soon be all around, as well.
I feel so blessed to see God's beautiful birds all in one location today and I think of just how much they trust in Him. Each one seemingly knows no fear. Our Father has given them the knowledge to flee when a cat or other predator comes near. They just lift themselves up into the air, and fly away to the safety of a tree or new location free from the intruder.
And I think, shouldn't we all just be like the beautiful little birds going about our day, living a colorful life in the essence and presence of our Lord? They think not of their provision, as they just know that it is there and they feed without worry, taking to flight as needed. We can do that too!
Did you know...that we are even more beautiful to God than the birds! He wants us to be like the little birds that faithfully trust in Him. They just know that they need to fly up into His presence at the first sign of trouble!
He tells us that He has prepared a safe place for us in His arms. With His hands, He bends down to pick us up when we fall, and He lovingly looks upon us just as we lovingly look upon the beautiful little birds.
With awe and amazement of the beauty and intricacy of each living creation, we can know that God has surely designed each of us with so much love and His love can never be taken away or dismissed.
I am thankful that these beautiful little bits of feathery color caught my attention this morning and reminded me of just how much our Father in Heaven loves each of us.
My prayer for today is that as the harshness of winter is fading away, may we embellish the Glory of God, as we go outside into His presence, among the beautiful little birds and join them in song, singing praises to the One who created us and Loves us the Most! In Him we find our safety. In Him, we find our peace. In Him we can be as free as the colorful little birds! Love and Blessings to All in Jesus name.
